Boom of the Bittern - guided walk at Strumpshaw Fen

Take a walk through Strumsphaw Fen with our volunteers to search for the rare and elusive Bittern. Learn more about this interesting bird and the management of the reserve to preserve its habitat.

As we search, enjoy the serene beauty of the reserve at sunrise and the wonderful acoustic performance of the dawn chorus around you.

After this early morning out on the reserve, warm up back at Reception, with a takeaway hot drink (included in the booking price).

What to bring

Please bring your own binoculars and come suitably dressed for a very early start when it could be rather chilly.

You are welcome to bring your own refreshments and hot drinks for during the walk.

Social distancing measures relevant to the time the event takes place will be employed throughout the event. Please ask for more space if you feel you need it, and all attendees are asked to be supportive of others' needs during the event.

All proceeds from this event go towards nature conservation at RSPB Strumpshaw Fen. Thank you for your support.
