Identifying Birds for Beginners Workshop

If you've ever wanted to understand the difference between a coal tit and a willow tit, a chaffinch and a dunnock, or tuned in to the sound of a blackbird, thrush or jay, then this is for you. Join our expert and friendly staff to help you with your bird ID skills. There are 3 sessions over the early spring each lasting two hours where we will take the time to give you the skills and knowledge to begin or build on, your bird ID knowledge.

The first session is in late April when the trees are still bare of leaves helping you to start. We will cover how best to use your binoculars, use a bird ID book, and look at factors and tips that will help bird ID seem less mysterious.

All sessions will be outside on the reserve so please wear suitable clothing and sturdy footwear. Due to the nature of the trails this is not suitable for wheelchair users. These sessions are also not suitable for young children, but keen young bird watchers will be most welcome.

Binoculars are available to hire if you do not have any yourself.
