Minsmere 4x4 safari

Join one of our knowledgeable guides as they take you on a tour to parts of the reserve that other visitors don't get to see. From the comfort of a 4x4, you'll see hidden parts of Minsmere's varied habitats, discover some of the reserve's fascinating history, and spot some unexpected wildlife as well as more familiar species.

These safaris provide excellent photographic opportunities, so don't forget to bring your camera.

The ticket price is for up to three people per vehicle.

This event is popular and places are strictly limited, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

FAQs

Why are safaris now only available on fixed dates, not flexibly, as previously?

We have decided to run our safaris only on fixed dates to help to spread the demand through the year and minimise disturbance at more popular times. There are two safaris per day, twice a month, on various days of the week. We've also made the switch to fixed dates since all bookings are now made on line, meaning that you can book several weeks ahead without having to wait for us to confirm guide availability.

Why can we only take three people this year when there have been four in previous years?

We have reduced the capacity this year due to our Covid-19 risk assessment requirement. We hope to return to a capacity of four people in 2022.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Our safaris are not suitable for children who require the use of a car seat.

I have limited mobility. Are these events suitable?

Our safaris involve very little walking. We can provide a step and assist with access to the 4x4 vehicle, if required. Due to the rough terrain, safaris are not suitable for pregnant women or anyone with a serious back injury.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Minsmere is signposted from the A12 and the village of Westleton (two miles away). On arrival there is a large, free car park. Cycle racks are available at the visitor centre. There are toilets in the visitor centre

What can I bring into the event?

We recommend suitable outdoor clothing. Bring your own binoculars and camera if you have them, or hire binoculars from the shop. The reserve cafe will be open after morning tours and before afternoon tours. No dogs, except registered assistance dogs please

There are less than three of us, do we get a discount?

Unfortunately not. These personalised tours are designed for groups of up to three people from one household, with tickets priced per tour, rather than per person, as you are hiring the vehicle for the tour. You might prefer to book one of our other tours, such as birdwatching for beginners, instead.

There are more than three of us, can we still book?

Sadly not, as our Covid-19 risk assessment only allows four people (including the guide) to be in the vehicle. For larger groups, please either book two separate safaris (there are always two per day), or book a guided walk instead

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

Email minsmere@rspb.org.uk or call us on 01728 648281 for further details. All bookings must be made on line

What's the refund policy?

If we cancel an event for any reason you will receive a full refund. Should you need to cancel, then you receive a full refund up to three days before the event. No refund is possible after that. You can change your booking via this website. To cancel a booking, please call us on 01728 648281.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Please bring you ticket or email confirmation with you. RSPB members should bring their membership cards with them please.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

You can transfer your booking to another event up to three days before the event.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Please include the names of all people who will be attending when making a booking
