Free Entry at Burton Mere Wetlands

To say #ThanksToYou we're inviting you to visit Burton Mere Wetlands for free during National Lottery Open Week and English Tourism Week between the 21 and 25 March! Simply bring a National Lottery ticket or scratchcard and we'll give you and up to one extra adult and 3 children free entry anytime from Monday to Friday*.

Located at the gateway to the Dee Estuary reserve, Burton Mere Wetlands straddles the border between England and Wales with a mosaic of freshwater wetland habitats, mixed farmland and woodland. This means that the area is bursting with wildlife and of course a wide range of birdlife such as avocets, egrets, harriers, redshanks, swallows and swifts.

On arrival you'll be greeted by ancient woodland with ample oaks and in spring the most stunning bluebell carpet. There really is something for everyone, birdwatchers can relax in the Reception Hide with a drink and a snack, families can follow the self-guided quiz trails, pushchair friendly paths or hire a Wildlife Explorer backpack for extra adventure. There are even the remains of an Iron Age hillfort at Burton Point, from where you can enjoy unrivalled views across the estuary and see the extent of the saltmarsh, which is also under our protection, making this one of the RSPB’s largest reserves in the country.

So why not grab your National Lottery Ticket and join us for some outdoor fun and discover this incredible reserve for yourself. If you're already a member it's a great time to bring a friend or two along. Huge #ThanksToYou and everyone at the National Lottery for helping us connect local communities with nature at RSPB Nature Reserves.
