Fused Glass Garden Panel Workshop with Twice Fired

Design and create your own unique fused glass panel for your home or garden, inspired by the wildlife gardens and wildflowers at RSPB Old Moor, with Kate Park from twicefired-glass.co.uk

Your panel will be 30 x 10cm and suitable for your garden or indoors.

Kate will show the basics of fused glass in this hands-on workshop, with no experience necessary- suitable for absolute beginners looking to try something new!

The day will begin out on the reserve, amid the wildflowers and garden to get inspiration. In summer these areas will be buzzing with bees, butterflies and dragonflies zipping over the nearby ponds too. The colours, shapes and wildlife can give you ideas of what to feature on your panel.

Back in our classroom, there will be jars of glass treasures to choose from and use to create your piece. Kate will be on hand to guide you through the process.

Once you are happy with your piece it will be set. Twice Fired will take the piece to their studio for firing, drilling holes and attaching a chain so your piece is ready to go in your garden or inside. The panels will be returned to RSPB Old Moor for you to collect. We'll get in touch when they are ready to be collected.

Tickets for this day-long workshop are limited to just 12 adults so there will be plenty of opportunity for you to ask Kate questions and discuss your ideas.  Endless tea and coffee and refreshments are included and you can get a tasty lunch from our onsite café (not included).

About the artist:

Kate Park is the glass artist and designer behind Twice Fired which runs regular workshops in their Leeds studio, sells glasswork pieces and make-at-home kits. She is inspired by pattern, process and nature and natural landscapes to produce exquisite contemporary handmade glass art. Twice Fired's zero waste policy ensures that every single piece of glass is used with no waste, cutting and fusing to recycle glass into other art pieces.

The Contemporary Glass Society has already exhibited two Twice Fired pieces and the British Craft Trade Fair (BCTF) is showcasing a piece in its Harrogate gallery. Twice Fired pieces are inspired by naturally occurring art forms – nature’s wealth of beauty is explored. From the tiniest, delicate seedpod or iridescent gloss of a beetle to the elegant formations of birds, each glass piece capturing subtle tones, textures and intricate shapes – hidden gems revealing themselves as the light changes.
