Guided Kayak Safari

Experience and discover the habitats and wildlife of the Broads National Park from a unique perspective.

Each tour starts with a guided walk through the reserve’s woodland and wetland habitats. Once on the water the kayak tours combine wildlife watching with a water-based workout. Become immersed in what feels like an undiscovered world, exploring the hidden reedy jungle of Surlingham and Rockland broads. Enjoy the tranquility of nature and the chance to have some very magical wildlife encounters.

Tours are led by qualified and experienced British Canoeing river guides. Kayaks are tandem two-person kayaks of a very stable design, perfect for beginners. The kayaking session will last approximately 2.5 hours (time on the water) and involves paddling on the tidal river Yare requiring a basic level of fitness.

There are two sessions per day:

Morning session running from 9:00 to 12

Afternoon session running from 13:30 to 16:30

FAQs

Kayaks

You need to book a ticket for each person attending. Our Kayak trips take place using tandem two-person kayaks. If you are attending as an individual, please be aware that you might be partnered up with another person attending the event.

What clothing should I bring?
We advise that you dress in quick drying layers, so base, mid layer (fleece) and windproof outer shell etc. - anything that closely relates to gym, workout or walking type clothing. Along with suitable sun protection if required.

Do I need to be able to swim?

Yes. Due to the Kayak safari trips taking place on water we ask that you can confidently swim a minimum of 50m unaided.

Can children attend this event?

The minimum age on these trips is 10 years. Due to the length and duration of these trips any children attending would need to have a good level of water confidence and should have the fitness to participate for 2.5 hrs time on the water. 10-18 years olds must be accompanied by an adult. We do not offer child prices on these trips so they would need to pay for an adult ticket.
