Evening Heathland Safari at Farnham Heath

Join us for an evening safari walk across our gorgeous heath in a sanctuary zone that is not usually accessible to the public. The wildlife here exists with minimal disturbance, so we experience higher numbers of heathland species such as the enigmatic nightjar and Dartford warbler. As the evening continues, there is a stop off at our refreshments tent before heading to our wildlife hide. Tucked away in a secret location, we have the chance to spot our resident badgers coming for their nightly feed as well as looking out for any other wildlife that makes an appearance. If the night is clear as the event draws to a close, we walk back beneath the stars whilst bats flit around us. We hope you find this a truly magical evening.

Information on Access and Arrival

We will meet at the Rural Life Living Museum car park 5 minutes before the scheduled start time (5:55pm Summer months; 4:55pm September) and as this event is very time sensitive, cannot wait for late arrivals.

The walk to the hide is almost completely flat with the odd dip in the track; just under 2km in distance. It will start off sandy as we walk through Farnham Heath before heading to our conservation area which has a gravel track from the entrance to the hide. We do need to cross a main road, but we’ll make sure the road is clear and that everyone gets across safely.

This event is not suitable for children under 12 or for people who have difficulty walking. Sorry, no dogs.

Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear for this event; a torch and binoculars are recommended.

Toilets at the Rural Life Living Museum will be open at the start and end of the event.

The maximum group size is 6 people, but we cannot accommodate group bookings at this stage. A maximum of two tickets can be purchased per booking.
