Bearded tits are one of the most elusive birds we have at Newport Wetlands and this is the only site in Wales they are known to breed.
Being so secretive they are often hard to find, but August is the best time to see them as family groups come out to forage in the reeds. Early morning is the best time to see them so we will meet early for a brief presentation and why these are very special birds for Newport Wetlands. We will then head out for a walk to listen out for the distinctive ‘ping’ call and hopefully catch a glimpse of these striking birds.
On returning to the Visitor centre we will have a breakfast roll and hot drink to enjoy and a chance for you to pose any questions to our experts.
