Summer Senses Trail at RSPB Rye Meads

Its Big Wild Summer time at RSPB Rye Meads!

Detective Hoot and Constable Crumbs need your help solving the mysteries of the Big Wild Summer. Join them in discovering the ways animals use their senses to survive in the world and find out how to tell what's happening in nature once we've gone to bed!

Come to Rye Meads and use all your senses explore the reserve on our Summer Senses Trail with fun for all the family! Use your senses to explore the reserve on this self-led trail alongside our Big Wild Summer activity pack. Each activity pack contains plenty of goodies to take home: a 12-page activity booklet and pencil, a face mask, BWS recipe card, Night & Day game wheel; certificate, and the RSPB Rye Meads trail sheet!

Activity packs cost £3.50 plus the usual car parking fees for non-RSPB members. No need to book just turn up and speak to us in the visitor centre.

Don't forget to check out our hot and cold drinks, snacks or maybe a summer treat, with a lovely tub of ice cream from the local Saffron Ice cream Company.

Binocular hire is also available from reception for £5

Additional activities take place on selected days - you can also explore the amazing tiny creatures of Rye Meads with Minibeasting (11am-2pm on Mondays) and Pond Dipping (10am-4pm on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays).

Rye Meads is currently open 9am-5pm every day. Facilities include: car park, Cafe Lite, toilets, accessible pathways. Please note: dogs, scooters, and bicycles are not permitted on the reserve. Rye Meads is an easy walk from Rye House train station and several bus stops - check our website for travel information.
