Saltholme September Special

Join us for a day out at Saltholme!

Enjoy a relaxing stroll through nature, set to a stunning industrial backdrop including the iconic Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge, Amish Kapoor's "Temenos" sculpture, and an excellent view of Roseberry Topping.

During September, waders and ducks fill the pools; if you look to the skies you may catch a glimpse of a kestrel or marsh harrier. On a warm sunny day you'll find dragonflies darting across the pools and settling on the reeds and fences.

Why not complete your experience by taking a trip to see our colony of harbour and grey seals at Greatham Creek- it's only 1.5 miles from our main site (towards Hartlepool) so you can walk along the English Coastal Path or drive and park at the Teesmouth Carpark.

Saltholme's main trails are accessible, with newly-refurbished wildlife hides including one with automatic doors. The reserve also boasts a cafe with a stunning view. There's plenty of volunteers to help you make the most of your time and we'll be running guided walks and adult pond dipping sessions throughout September too (subject to availability).

So whether you're a novice or expert birdwatcher, a photographer or family looking to share the wonder of nature you'll find plenty to enjoy at RSPB Saltholme.
