Raptors in the Reedbed winter guided walk

Watch the reserve come to life as darkness falls, and birds of prey emerge to hunt or arrive to roost in the reedbeds.

We will be hosting two guided walks this winter to look for birds of prey at dusk across the reserve with luck we will see marsh harriers roosting in the reedbeds as well as barn owls, possibly merlin, peregrine and hen harrier. Sparrow hawks and merlin are also drawn to the small birds roosting too, hoping for an easy bedtime meal in the low light. We might hear tawny owls too. Not to mention other winter delights such as whooper swans and woodcock flying overhead! Our experienced and knowledgeable guides will take you on a lovely evening tour of the reserve.

If the weather is really bleak, we won't see much so we will move the event to a week later (until we get decent conditions!). Please wear strong, waterproof footwear as the ground could be wet and uneven. Please also bring plenty of layers with you and a warm hat as it can get chilly too! For this event, reserve entry fee for non-RSPB members is included in the ticket price.
