As autumn turns to winter the starling murmurations are a wildlife spectacular not to be missed at Newport Wetlands. This event will start with a warming cup of homemade soup from our café and a brief presentation to help unravel some of the mysteries of the murmurations. Then we will head on onto the reserve with our knowledgeable guides and show you the best places to see the murmuations for yourselves.
As well as the fabulous starlings show we very often see raptors such as marsh harriers or sparrowhawks on the hunt as the sun sets over the reedbeds.
Of course we cannot guarantee the starlings will be there but it is unusual in November not to see any mumurations at Newport Wetlands. Please arrive promptly 10 minutes before the event is due to start to check in at the welcome kiosk. If you have purchased an RSPB member ticket please remember to bring your membership cards with you as these will be checked upon arrival.
Tickets are limited on these events so we advise to book your place as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
These events will go ahead in most weather conditions as rain and wind won't stop the starlings! We will however cancel if there are any severe weather warnings that could cause potential injury.
No refunds will be given within 5 days of the event. If the cancellation is from RSPB, a full refund will be given.
