Each year at RSPB Lakenheath Fen we hold our popular and unique Race for Wildlife- a chance for environmentally-conscious runners to choose between a 5k and 10k circuit around this beautiful nature reserve. Participants will pass through a mixture of grassland, woodland, fen and scrub as they weave their way past a network of marshals, cheering them on towards the finish line. And the best bit? All of the profits from ticket sales go directly to the RSPB, which spends over 90% of it's net income on wildlife conservation.
As a thank-you from us for taking part, every finisher gets a medal and the top three finishers in the Womens' and Mens' 5k and 10k routes each get a medal handmade by our warden Emma. On the day of the event, we'll be well-prepared with two water stations, a secure baggage area (supervised by one of our volunteers at all times), ample free parking and 20+ volunteers helping out on the day, including as marshals.
If you'd like to raise even more money for wildlife, sponsorship forms are available on request- please give us a call on 01842 863400 or e-mail us at lakenheath@rspb.org.uk. All ages and abilities are welcome, but we politely request that no participants arrive with the intention of just walking around their chosen route- a combination of running and walking is fine, however!
Please not that usual entry fees to RSPB Lakenheath Fen for non-RSPB members are included in the ticket price.
