Welsh Dark Skies & Astrophotography

Have you ever wanted to venture into the world of Astrophotography and Dark Skies?Then why not join us at RSPB South Stack this October and learn how to capture the stars through your own lens?The introduction and workshop will be run by experienced Astrophotographer Hanna Baguley, who’s spent many an evening capturing the dramatic landscapes of North Wales beneath starry skies.

We'll also be joined by our local Dark Skies Officer who will be giving us an insight into the importance of our Welsh Dark Skies as well as her new book All Through The Night.

There is also the option of purchasing a warming bowl of homemade soup with a roll.

Essential equipment needed for the event:

- Own DSLR or Mirrorless Camera

- Own Low aperture lens/lenses- Own Tripod & Mount

- Own Remote release (although not essential)

- Headtorch

What should I bring to the event?

Suitable outdoor clothing and footwear should be worn.  The café will also be open should you want a hot or cold drink prior to venturing out.

Is there a minimum age requirement for the event?

Due to the nature of the event, we do not recommend bringing children under the age of 12 years old.  Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

What parking and facilities are available at the reserve?

Here at RSPB South Stack we have three separate car parks, which are each equipped with a ticket machine.  However, there will be no parking charge for the event.  Cycle racks are available at the Visitor Centre as well as a café, toilets and baby changing facilities.  The café will be open for hot drinks during the start of the event. A warming bowl of homemade soup and a roll will also be available to purchase at the cafe.

Are dogs permitted on the walk?

Due to the nature of the event, we don’t allow dogs.  

Refund policy.

On the rare occurrence that we would need to cancel the event, we will issue you with a full refund.  Should you wish to cancel, a full refund will be issued should we receive three days’ notice or more.  To make a cancellation please call us on 01407 762 100.  

Proof of Purchase.

Upon arrival at the Visitor Centre you will need to show either your confirmation email or a printed ticket please.  RSPB members should also bring along their membership cards.
