Free Parking at Ham Wall

You're invited! Visit us at RSPB Ham Wall for National Lottery Open Week between the 9 and 17 March and park for free. Just put a National Lottery ticket or scratchcard, past or present, in the front windscreen of your vehicle, easy*.

Ham Wall is a wetland teeming with wildlife - from rare species like water voles and otters to magnificent birds like bitterns and kingfishers. Enjoy stunning views across the marshes to Glastonbury Tor and make some time to follow secluded paths through the mystical landscape.

Whether you're quackers about birds or wild about nature there's something for you here. Ducks are one of the main attractions in the wintering months and Ham Wall is the perfect place to test your ID skills on the large numbers of widgeon, gadwall, teal, mallard, shoveler, and tufted ducks on the reserve. Can you spot the few pintail hiding among them? In spring The ‘boom’ of the male bittern can be heard echoing across the reserve and you may see flying females bringing food to their young. Swallows, swifts, martins and hobbies start arriving from Africa and up to 30 hobbies may be seen in the air at one time.

And there's lots for children to do too, the main path through the reserve is wide and flat so is pushchair friendly. Our new play area with wooden reedbed climber is a great place for kids to let off steam and spot wildlife that makes its home here from the children’s viewing tower. Plus, you'll find the old railway track perfect for a traffic-free bike ride or walk through the heart of the reserve taking you to Shapwick Heath National Nature Reserve and Glastonbury as well as Sustrans route 3.

We look forward to seeing you soon with your National Lottery ticket or scratchcard and let us say #ThanksToYou for supporting us with free parking all week. If you're already a member then why not encourage your friends and family to discover one of your favourite places for free?
