Are you a budding amateur wildlife photographer who would jump at the chance to spend some unique quality time on Havergate with like minded people?
We have arranged a number of special trips for you to spend an exclusive day on Suffolk's only island so you can capture those once in a lifetime shots of Havergate's unique and diverse scenery and the wildlife that live on it.
This trip is perfect for you if you are a keen photographer, giving you the opportunity to spend some time on Havergate and capture amazing photographs of its wildlife when it is at its most active. Along with the waders feeding on the lagoons you might be lucky enough to see the Barn Owls hunting along the sea walls to the smaller inhabitants such as butterflies feeding on the array of coastal wildflowers. With some luck and fieldcraft, you may even get up close and personal with one of the island's famous wild brown hares.
Only 8 places are available on each trip so you will really feel like you are the only person on the island. Guides will be present and will happily point you in the right direction to finding the birds and hares or else you can wander and just capture the moments as they present themselves.
You will need to bring your own food but tea and coffee will be available for you to help yourself to.
The RSPB boat 'October Storm' will depart from Orford Quay for the 20 minute ride to Havergate Island at 7am returning at 1pm.
Please ensure you arrive at Orford in good time and leave your car at the pay-and-display car park situated close to the quay.
There are bicycle racks and public toilets at the car park.
You need to have a reasonable level of fitness for this trip as it requires getting on and off the boat and walking with your equipment on sometimes uneven, muddy or wet ground.
In adverse weather conditions, the trip may be cancelled at short notice at the warden's discretion; in this case, you will get a full refund of your booking fee.
