Free Hot Drink at Black Devon Wetlands for Climate FORTH Discovery Day

Join us for a free hot drink while visiting RSPB Black Devon Wetlands Discovery Day on 9th March 12-4pm.

Discovery Day is for children and families to uncover the nature waiting to be found at the banks of the Forth. A range of fun activities will be on offer to explore and learn about how to protect the future of this special place.

This event is designed for families.

Black Devon Wetlands nature reserve is a quiet gem, a mosaic of untouched wet grassland, reedbeds and pools. The reserve is part of RSPB’s Inner Forth conservation project and is a haven for flocks of wintering wading birds and wildfowl.

The watery habitat is also ideal for frogs, newts, dragonflies and small fish which thrive in our ponds and scrapes (shallow pools).

All our work at Black Devon is carried out with wildlife in mind. We have introduced new areas of wetland to boost biodiversity across the reserve and opened up the older pools to create the ideal conditions for an array of wading birds and waterfowl.

The site acts as a sanctuary and high tide roost for birds using the mudflats of the nearby estuary. Walk our nature trail through the wetland all the way up to the viewing mound for sweeping views over the site.
