Always wanted to take your birdwatching skills to that next level? Join some of our expert volunteers to seek out and listen for an array of bird species across Arne, no previous experience required. The course shall encompass everything from understanding optics, to learning basic spotting and identification tips. The course will be separated into 3 weekly sessions, running as follows:
7th March - Garden & Hedgerow birds
14th March - Wintering Coastal birds
21st March - Open Habitat (Heathland) birds
Please feel free to bring any binoculars with you. Alternatively, they can be hired from the shop. Identification resources can be provided on the day. Please note that the walking terrain can be hazardous so it is advised to bring appropriate footwear. Trampers are also available to hire, please enquire for further details if this would help you partake in this event. Sessions may be cancelled at short notice due to servere weather conditions. Please meet by the shop/cafe at the start of each session.
Please note: By purchasing tickets for this event, you'll be paying for all 3 sessions. Alongside this, the ticket price also includes a coffee and danish catering offer from our cafe, awarded for all 3 sessions. Each session will run from 9:30am - 12pm.
What are my transport options for getting to and from the event? Where do I park? See our website for train, bus, bike, and road options. Our carpark is located on the right at the beginning of Arne village. Arne Nature Reserve, Dorset - The RSPB
What can I bring into the event? We recommend suitable outdoor clothing. Apply insect repellent prior to the event. You may wish to carry a drink and/or snack. No dogs, except registered assistance dogs please.
Do you cater for special dietary needs? Yes, our catering team can cater for any special dietary requirements. Please ask when ordering in the cafe.
Can I stay on the reserve after the walk? Yes, if you are an RSPB Member you have free entry to the reserve with your membership. If you are not an RSPB member this ticket included entry to the reserve on the day of the event only.
How can I contact the organiser with any questions? Email arne@rspb.org.uk. All bookings must be made online. Please do not reply to emails generated by the ticket system, as we do not receive these emails.
What's the refund policy? If we cancel an event for any reason, you will receive a full refund. Should you need to cancel, then you receive a full refund up to three days before the event, after which no refund is available. Cancellations must be made using the email address arne@rspb.org.uk.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? Please bring printed or electronic proof of your ticket or email confirmation with you. RSPB members should bring their membership cards with them please.
