Set your alarm clocks, fill up your flasks and head down to Strumpshaw Fen! You won't want to miss this chance to join our guide on an early morning stroll to experience the serene beauty of the reserve at dawn. This is a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the magical acoustic performance of a dawn chorus alongside our resident expert, who will help you pick out and identify the soloists performing in this bird orchestra (and learn more about bird song in general).
Journeying through a mixture of stunning habitats, we expect to hear the excitable trills of Wren, the staccato notes of a Chiffchaff, and an incredible reedbed soundscape delivered by a variety of warblers and other wetland birds. There's always the chance of hearing the iconic deep booming of an elusive Bittern, or the bizarre croaking calls of the dapper drake Garganey!
Whilst it is an early start, there's nothing quite like the natural healing power of a dawn chorus to lift your spirits and leave you smiling for the rest of the day. Bring it on!

Is there a minimum age for the event?
Older children are welcome on this event but we advise that it is not suitable for children under the age of 12 years old.
What to bring
Please bring your own binoculars and come suitably dressed for a very early start when it could be rather chilly.
You are welcome to bring your own refreshments and hot drinks for during the walk.

This walk will start from outside Strumpshaw Fen's visitor hide.
