The Forest at Night at RSPB Nagshead

Walk the woods after dark with our Reserve Warden as we head out in search of nocturnal wonders. The walk begins at dusk as we set off through the Forest, keeping our eyes open for mammals and listening to the dusk chorus. As the sky becomes darker we will go in search for the churr of the nightjar, hoots from tawny owls and roding woodcock. This walk is best done in complete darkness, however if you wish to, you can bring along a head torch. Start time: 8:30pm.

The starting point for this walk is not at the Nagshead Visitor Centre. Park in the layby at the Forest of Dean Stoneworks and the walk leader will meet you there. The Stoneworks is at the bottom of Cannop Ponds on New Road. Postcode is GL15 4JS, What3words is mascots.spice.sandbags.

Please wear suitable footwear for walking on forest paths and wrap up warmly as it can be cold early in the morning/at night. There are no toilets or refreshments available, so you may wish to bring water. This event is not suitable for dogs.

Please try and arrive at least five minutes before the start of the walk so that we can begin on time. If you are running late or unable to come, please contact the walk organiser on 07702 508766.
