Mead brewing masterclass with Apothecary Mead

Join the exceptional artisans of Apothecary Mead as you learn how to brew your own signature mead.

The history of mead can be traced to Babylonian tablets circa 8000 BCE making it the oldest alcoholic beverage known to humanity. This magical beverage was a revered ambrosia of the Gods by the Egyptian Priestesses of Ninkasi, a panacea for Norse warlords served on the eve of battle or brewed by European monks including Sherwood's very own Friar Tuck.

This workshop will give you the opportunity to learn about the history of mead and it's various subclasses, as well as the importance of honeybee conservation. With your new-found knowledge of how pollen can affect the flavour profiles of honey, set versus liquid honey and the difference between Raw and Pasteurised, you'll be well on your way to being a master brewer.

Once the learning is complete, it's time to brew your own unique flavour. With different sample sets of honeys, botanicals, herbs, spices, hops and fruit, you'll have the potential to create a mead that has never been made before.

Each participant will receive their own 1L demijohn, racking pipes for use at home and an instruction leaflet on what to do once they leave. Within 6 weeks, you will have your own signature mead, tailored to your tastes. You will also be provided with a Certificate of Mead Masterclass Level 1 so you can show off your mead brewing mastery to your family and friends, long after your tasty tipple has been consumed!

This workshop is for 18's and over.
