Cuckoo and Bittern experience with breakfast

This is the perfect opportunity to learn all about the iconic Bittern and wonderfully sounding Cuckoo. Newport Wetlands has resident bitterns that can be seen all year round but more regularly during the springtime. At the same time, we see and hear cuckoo’s that have made their way back from Africa to breed.

We’ll start the morning with a presentation where you will be introduced to the species and the vital work being done to help the species recover and increase the population. We will then head out onto the reserve and hopefully be lucky enough to hear a male bittern booming and a cuckoo calling. If we are lucky, we might spot one or both! But this is not guaranteed. During the presentation, we will enjoy a nice hot drink and a hot sausage baguette. Vegetarian option available. We will contact you about your preferences shortly after you book.
