Nature and Wellbeing walk at RSPB Loch Leven

Join our Visitor Experience Assistant Daniel for our Nature and Wellbeing Guided Sessions here at beautiful RSPB Loch Leven. The walks will explore how to increase your connection to nature, through activities suitable for all abilities. No knowledge of nature required!

We’ll be running 3 sessions this year, and they will all explore a different theme. Join for one or more, we’d love to see you there! For a taster of what the sessions will look like, check out this Youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PvzmKm59bA

13 July – Introductory activities and exploration: A quick introduction to nature connection followed by an exploration of the woodlands, doing some soundscape visualisation, mindful photography with our phone cameras and finding the meaning of nature.

11 August – Meaningful maps: Further exploration of parts of the reserve, focusing on the details of nature and creating a map of a part of the reserve you have explored that shows nature as you see it.

14 September – Nature and culture: How does nature intersect with art, writing and music? A fun and creative session exploring these themes and having a go at some of it ourselves!

Who is it for? This event has been created for people aged 18 and over of all abilities. If you have any additional needs, please get in touch at lochleven@rspb.org.uk.

What is Nature Connection? Nature connectedness captures that relationship between people and the rest of nature. Nature connectedness is a measurable psychological construct that moves beyond contact with nature to an individual’s sense of their relationship with the natural world. – University of Derby Nature Connectedness Research Group.

In short, it’s about how we feel about our place in the natural world, are we part of it, or separate from it? Research has shown that those who feel they are part of the natural world feel and function better than those who don’t. Connecting to nature is good for us and good for nature – so come and take part in a wide range of activities and find out more.
